The Canary Islands, with their breathtaking landscapes and variable climate conditions, are the ideal place to test physical endurance and passion for bike travel.
And so, Roberto and Michele, two friends passionate about life and adventure and eager for some dust, left from Verona airport with only one piece of luggage: our bikes (dismantled and packed in a box) and one goal: to explore Lanzarote and Tenerife.
October 3rd marks the start of our adventurous journey, an unforgettable experience through the Canary Islands, where the bike becomes our means of transportation and discovery. Our figure-eight route took us through stunning landscapes, from the dramatic scenery of Lanzarote to the exciting exploration of Tenerife, with a return to the comfort of our hotel in Lanzarote.
Starting from Lanzarote, we plunged into the adventure by following the “Granguance Trail”. This was not just a bike trip, but a full experience of outdoor life. Armed with tents and a spirit of adventure, we embraced the starry nights and total darkness, accompanied by the relaxing sound of sea waves or the whisper of wind on the sand as we slept.
The weather conditions in the Canary Islands can be challenging, with temperatures reaching up to 36°C, but this did not stop us. The varied terrain, ranging from sand to boulders, offered us a unique and challenging riding experience, testing our cycling skills. And as we faced the challenges of the terrain, meals became a time for sharing and strengthening. With our portable stoves, we prepared nutritious soups and tasty Italian pastas, refueling for the adventures ahead.
But more than anything, this trip was an opportunity to slow down and appreciate the natural beauty around us. Far from the hectic daily routines, we immersed ourselves in the peace and tranquility of the Canary Islands, drawing inspiration from their majesty and timeless beauty.
Every pedal stroke was a chance to explore, discover, and connect with nature and ourselves. And as we return to our starting point in Lanzarote, we carry with us the memories of an unforgettable adventure and gratitude for the wonders the world has to offer to those who dare to explore it on a bike.
The only bike trip you’ll regret is the one you never took.
